Draft Order Determination Rules

We will use the USA Today Sports section – “Sportsline” article

 We will assign each owner a "word" from that article, (beginning with the first
word of the headline), until all owners have a "word". Then we will sort the
"words" and the alphabetical listing of the “words” will give us our draft order.

 "Words" are assigned in reverse order of  the regular season standings from
        the prior year.
New owners take the previous season’s standings for the team they replaced.                

  "Legal" word rules:
            1) Only words with 4 or more letters will count.
            2) Abbreviations do NOT count (Blvd, Std, etc.)
            3) No acronyms or initials (NCAA, LPGA, etc.)
            4) Hyphenated words count as 1 word.
            5) No numbers, unless they are spelled out (3 = NO, three = OK)
            6) Names of people don't count. All other proper nouns, do.
            7) A word can only be used once.

  Example:
          SAMPLE – “Sportsline” article  - USA Today Sports section:

       Rodriquez Sherman's driving layup with 20.8 seconds remaining
       gave Kent State a come-from-behind 75-74 victory against
       visiting Tulsa.... etc...

         1st place finisher's word - driving
         2nd place finisher's word - layup
         3rd place finisher's word - with
         4th place finisher's word - seconds
         5th place finisher's word - remaining
         6th place finisher's word - gave
         7th place finisher's word - Kent
         8th place finisher's word - State
         9th place finisher's word - come-from-behind
         10th place finisher's word - victory
         11th place finisher's word - against
         12th place finisher's word – visiting

 After sorting the words, our draft order would be:         
          11th place finisher - against
          9th place finisher - come-from-behind
        1st place finisher - driving
          6th place finisher - gave
          7th place finisher - Kent
         2nd place finisher - layup
          5th place finisher - remaining
          4th place finisher - seconds
          8th place finisher - State
          10th place finisher - victory
          12th place finisher - visiting
